More than 30 thousand services are provided in the North Zone during service efforts

Manaus (AM) – With the mission of getting closer to the population and expanding access to public policies in difficult-to-access areas, Manaus City Hall, through the Municipal Secretariat for Women, Social Assistance and Citizenship (Semasc), held this Saturday (24) , the 2nd edition of the “Manaus Mais Cidadã” service effort in 2024, this time serving the population of the Viver Melhor housing complex, in the North Zone.

In total, 31.4 thousand attendances were registered throughout the day at the municipal school Benjamin Matias Fernandes and at the Municipal Center for Early Childhood Education (Cmei) Professor Caio Carlos Frota Medeiros, where, once again, municipal and state departments, society partners civil society and other public authorities came together to offer more than 10,000 community members in the region, more than one hundred public services completely free of charge and in a single space. The old record was 26 thousand consultations carried out in the Armando Mendes neighborhood, in August 2023.

“This is a project designed by our mayor David Almeida, which aims to decentralize the actions of Manaus City Hall and get closer to citizens, especially those who are more humble and who often do not have the resources to seek these services. The focus of this administration is to take care of people and, when talking to the citizens present here, we realize that we are on the right path”,

highlighted the vice-mayor and chief secretary of the Civil House, Marcos Rotta.

Secretary Eduardo Lucas, from Semasc, highlighted the importance of periodically bringing an event of this magnitude to the population of different areas of the city on an “alternative day”, taking into account the demands and mobility possibilities of each territory covered by the action .

“The alternative day serves the population who, for whatever reasons, are unable to access these services during the week, having the opportunity to receive care quickly and close to their home. It is the mayor’s determination that we be present at the ‘source’, within the community, practically at the citizen’s doorstep and making their lives easier”, he stated.

Different services

In total, 120 services were offered to the population throughout the morning. Among the most sought-after services, we highlight the insertion and updating of the Single Registry, general medical, dental, medication dispensing, registration for job vacancies, issuance of basic documentation, license and vehicle services, legal guidance, beautification services and many others.

The Municipal Secretariat of Administration, Planning and Management (Semad) participated in “Manaus Mais Cidadã” with assistance and guidance in the legal, social assistance and psychology areas, making the necessary referrals for each demand.

The team of technicians was coordinated by the head of Semad, Ebenezer Bezerra. “This action is very important because it takes the services offered, free of charge, by the city hall to where citizens live. Mayor David Almeida understands that, many times, people do not have the resources to travel to municipal administration units. ‘Manaus Mais Cidadã’ is a mobile city hall”, said Bezerra.

Law student Anne Silva, 32, attended the action seeking medical care for herself and vaccination for her pet. According to the community, actions like this are necessary and make the lives of many residents more practical.

“Viver Melhor has many shortcomings, mainly because it is located in a very large neighborhood and is far from the central region of the city. Actions like this are wonderful precisely because they are able to bring closer to us much of what is difficult for us to access during the week, in addition to helping to spread information and other uses”, he reported.

Housewife Adrielly Lacerda, accompanied by her husband and children, sought pediatric care for the little ones and orthopedic care for her partner, praising the care received.

“Today we looked for several services and were very well attended to in all of them, which makes us want more actions like this to take place here. It has a good variety of services, the service is excellent and the best part is the practicality of the action being so close to home. Very good, very good indeed”, he praised.
