The Provisional Measure (MP) 1165 establishing the program “More Doctors” was approved by the Chamber of Deputies on the night of this Wednesday (14), with 353 votes in favor and 58 votes against. the deputy Dorinaldo Malafaia (PDT-AP), who presided over the joint commission that debated and improved the text of the MP, celebrated the approval.
“I’m very happy. The program was already good and Mais Médicos is now much better. It is through Bailique, through areas of difficult access, through the indigenous lands of Amapá and Brazil that this program exists. Imagine that many people were seen by a doctor for the first time in their lives after the program which, unfortunately, has been weakened in the last four years.”declared Dorinaldo.
Mais Médicos broke a record for registrations and around 35,000 physicians are already applying for one of the vacancies. The estimate of the Ministry of Health (MS) is that about 95 million Brazilians are served by the program.
Controversies, advances and revalidation
Surrounded by ideological debates, such as about Cuban doctors, the final text and the democratic debate held in the commission chaired by Dorinaldo, ended up clarifying and demystifying false polemics that existed.
In an interview given to TV Câmara, Malafaia clarified the main points of the new More Doctors.
