Moraes speaks of Bolsonaro’s chain of lies – 06/30/2023 – Politics

Minister Alexandre de Moraes cast the fifth and final vote for the declaration of ineligibility for Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The magistrate classified the meeting with ambassadors in which the former president discredited, without evidence, the voting system as an “electoral monologue”.

He also stated that the declarations of the former representative “are not possible opinions, they are lies, they are fraudulent news”.

“A series of lying information, fraudulent news, but what purpose? Was the objective simply, let’s say, to deplete? The president woke up nervous one day, wanted to deplete his liver, and then we’re going to attack, who are we going to attack? The electoral court. Moraes, who has become the main executioner of Bolsonarism in the Judiciary in recent years, criticized Bolsonaro and said that the result of the trial in disfavor of the former president “confirms the faith in democracy and the rule of law”.

“This summons to carry out a long exposure —or as it has been called a monologue here several times— with extensive attacks on the electoral system, on the Electoral Justice and its members with the use of blatant misinformation and fraudulent news replicated by the investigated person’s social networks and his supporters, with clear sense of destroying the credibility of the electronic voting system and with the purpose of influencing and convincing voters who would be victims of a great conspiracy by the Judiciary to defraud the 2022 presidential elections,” he said.

He also said that the court does not innovate by declaring Bolsonaro ineligible and cited the action that led to the impeachment of former state deputy Fernando Francischini for spreading lies about electronic voting machines.

“No candidate, and especially the one investigated in this Aije, Jair Bolsonaro, could claim ignorance of the positioning of this electoral court on the main premises that should be observed for the 2022 elections.”
