The minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes, ordered the release this Tuesday (28) of defendant Joelton Gusmão de Oliveira, one of those arrested for the acts of January 8. This is the 11th defendant released by Moraes after the death of Cleriston Pereira. The businessman was imprisoned at the Papuda Penitentiary Complex, in Brasília, accused of involvement in acts of vandalism and died on the 20th after having a “sudden illness”.
With the revocation of preventive detention, Oliveira must comply with precautionary measures, such as the use of an electronic ankle bracelet, prohibition of leaving the country, suspension of authorizations to carry weapons and certificate of collector, sports shooter and hunter (CAC), surrender of the passport and weekly presentation to the Court.
The request for his freedom was made by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR) on November 9th. For the PGR, the arrest of the accused is no longer justified, informed the Brazil Agency. “Precautionary segregation is no longer justified, whether to guarantee public order or for the convenience of criminal investigation, especially considering the absence of risk of interference in the collection of evidence”, argued the prosecutor’s office.
