Moraes orders the blocking of bank accounts of Oswaldo Eustaquio’s daughter

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), ordered the blocking of the bank accounts of the daughter of journalist Oswaldo Eustáquio for allegedly being used by him to receive donations after requests on social networks.
The account blocking request was published by the website metropolises and confirmed by People’s Gazette this Tuesday (18). Moraes claims, in the inquiry, that Eustáquio would be acting “in a sneaky way” to raise money “through the propagation of lies” to receive donations “that will be destined to maintain the status of illegality of his situation”.
According to the magistrate, the use of the daughter’s bank accounts would show the “attempt to circumvent the decision to block her accounts, assets and values, that is, as a last resort, to enable the continuation of the criminal practice and remain at large”. Eustáquio denied that he is a fugitive, and claimed to be a “political refugee”.
The investigation points out that two accounts of his daughter, who is 15 years old, would have been blocked: a current account of R$ 6.3 thousand and another of R$ 374.7 thousand of investment in private pension. At the end of last month, Moraes determined that her defense provide clarification on the origin of the resources, and questioned the Ministry of Justice if Eustáquio had obtained political asylum in Paraguay.
The magistrate’s determination came after the Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Lindôra Araújo, asked for the accounts to be unlocked at the request of the defense of Eustáquio’s daughter, who claimed that there was a “misunderstanding” and that she uses the money to go to the school, among other expenses.
Oswaldo Eustáquio was arrested twice by order of Alexandre de Moraes, in 2020 and 2021. He is currently investigated for the crimes of threat, persecution, incitement to crime, criminal association and violent abolition of the Democratic State of Law. His defense classified the blocking of accounts as “absurd”.
