Moraes orders PF to listen to former GSI minister – 04/20/2023 – Power

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the STF (Federal Supreme Court) determined that General Gonçalves Dias, former chief minister of the GSI (Institutional Security Office), be heard by the Federal Police within 48 hours.

In a decision released this Thursday (20), Moraes also determined that all military personnel appearing in the images released by CNN Brasil during the invasion of the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic and that show a collaborative action of agents with coup plotters and the presence de Gonçalves Dias on site.

The minister resigned from his position this Wednesday afternoon (19) after the release of images that put the agency’s performance in check during the January 8 coup attack.

In the recording, the coup plotters received water from the military and greeted GSI agents during the attacks. In the videos, General Gonçalves Dias himself walks around the third floor of the palace, in the anteroom of the President of the Republic’s office, while the acts took place on the floor below.

The fall of the commander of the GSI must make the creation of a CPI in Congress inevitable on the coup acts.

This Thursday, Minister Alexandre Padilha (Institutional Relations) said that the dissemination of images about the 8th of January and the consequent resignation of General Gonçalves Dias from the command of the GSI constitute a “new political situation”.

According to him, the government of President Lula (PT) has guided leaders in the National Congress to support the installation of a CPI to investigate the attacks on the three Powers in order, according to him, to stop the propagation of false theses about the coup acts of that day.

Padilha said he was surprised that the images blurred the faces of the other agents that were shown inside the Planalto Palace, but that the same treatment was not given to the general.

“I am even very surprised that some military agents have blurred images on their faces so as not to be recognized and the former minister does not have the same treatment in this leak that was made”, he added.

A week after the January 8 attacks, however, the government released edited videos, in particular with excerpts that showed that the militants were allies of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

In addition, he refused a request from the Sheetvia the Access to Information Act, to release the entirety of the recordings.
