The Minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes authorized this Wednesday (23) that former deputy Roberto Jefferson remain hospitalized at the Hospital Samaritano Botafogo, in the South Zone of Rio. Moraes also determined that Jefferson may receive visits from his mother and of the daughter in the hospital, provided that the days and times are previously communicated to the Court.

The former deputy had been imprisoned since October 2022 at the Bangu Penitentiary Complex, in Rio de Janeiro. In June, he had to be transferred to a hospital after a fall in his cell. In the decision, the minister considered the manifestation of the Secretariat of Penitentiary Affairs of Rio de Janeiro (SEAP/RJ) on the state of health of the former parliamentarian.

“Based on the various examinations and the physical examination, the official medical board concluded that, despite the patient’s/guardian’s condition having improved somewhat, his stability is extremely fragile; his degree of malnutrition is still high and will need constant monitoring”, says an excerpt from the secretariat’s opinion. Moraes pointed out that this is the same conclusion reached by the Federal Police medical expert panel regarding Jefferson’s situation.
