Mocidade presents the plot: “O Coroado brings Anne Moura: A icamiaba, daughter of this ground!”

Association will honor the story of Anne Moura, social activist and political figure

Manaus (AM) – The samba school Mocidade Independente do Coroado is ready to enter Avenida do Samba, this Friday (2), through access group A of the Manaus Carnival 2024, with the plot “O Coroado brings Anne Moura: A icamiaba, daughter from this floor!”

The association will pay homage to the story of Anne Moura, a social activist and political figure, who gained prominence in the last election for the State Government by reaching the second round as a candidate for vice-governor on Eduardo Braga’s ticket and being listed as a pre-candidate for mayor of Manaus. In a recent survey, Anne emerged with 3% voting intention among the Manaus electorate.

“It is an honor to be honored by my favorite samba school, from the neighborhood where I grew up and grew stronger. Mocidade Independente do Coroado is a big family and being part of this community, receiving all this energy and affection is something unique”,

highlighted Anne. At the Sambadrome, she will show that she can also dance samba during the performance.

The parade promises to move the public with the trajectory of Anne Moura, mother, wife, woman, feminist, activist, militant, descendant of the Mura people, Amazonian and daughter of the Coroado. The Front Commission will bring the birth of Anne Moura. While the first couple of master of the room and flag bearer will represent Muiraquitã, the sacred amulet of the Icamiabas, the open-wing car will show the neighborhood of Coroado, where the honoree’s roots are.

The Bahian women’s wing features sellers of breaker-queix (a typical sweet), which was sold by Anne as a teenager together with her grandmother. The drums represent the folkloric manifestations that were and are part of the trajectory of this Amazonian woman with typical features of the region.

The other wings highlight the themes: ‘Education that transforms’, ‘Everything for the social’, ‘Elas por Elas’, ‘As Margaridas’, ‘Mother Africa: in defense of the quilombolas’ and ‘Mura: in defense of the original peoples’.

The Mocidade Independente do Coroado parade is scheduled to start at 9:50 pm, with gatherings starting at 7 pm.
