The Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship recomposed the Amnesty Commission. The ordinance with the definition of the 16 new members was published this Tuesday (17) in the Official Gazette (DOU). According to the folder, those chosen have “technical experience, especially in dealing with the theme of integral reparation, memory and truth”.

The Amnesty Commission was created by Law No. 10,559/2002 and works as a direct advisory body to the Minister of Human Rights and Citizenship. The objective is to analyze amnesty requests with proof of the political persecution suffered, in addition to issuing opinions on the requests.

As of 2019, the concept of integral reparation with which the commission worked until 2017 was changed. Of the total of 4,285 cases judged between 2019 and 2022, 4,081 were rejected.

The members are: Eneá de Stutz e Almeida (president), Márcia Elayne Berbich Moraes, Ana Maria Lima de Oliveira, Rita Maria Miranda Sipahi, Vanda Davi Fernandes de Oliveira, Prudente José Silveira Mello, José Carlos Moreira da Silva Filho, Virginius José Lianza da Franca, Manoel Severino Moraes de Almeida, Roberta Camineiro Baggio, Marina da Silva Steinbruch, Egmar José de Oliveira, Cristiano Otávio Paixão Araújo Pinto and Mario de Miranda Albuquerque.

The representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the amnesty recipients still need to be designated. The work on the commission is considered to provide a relevant public service, and is not remunerated. With information from Agência Brasil.
