The Ministry of Health announced this Monday (19) that the Mais Médicos program will increase by 10,000 new vacancies. The opening will be directed to the whole country and is of the co-participation modality, a partnership that occurs between the portfolio and the city that claims the professionals.
The municipalities with greater fragility will have preference for the new vacancies. Those with more critical levels of vulnerability, for example, can even double the number of professionals in the family health teams through the program.
All municipal administrations can apply for new vacancies for professionals in the program until the next 27th. In the form of co-participation, the ministry uses the value of the doctors’ training grant as a discount on the floor passed on for the cost of primary care in the municipality.
“Local managers continue to be responsible for paying the housing allowance, food and other expenses of the program are borne by the Ministry of Health”, informs the folder.
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) announced in March the resumption of the Mais Médicos program. At first, there were 5,790 vacancies, 1,000 of which in the Legal Amazon, which would be distributed in 1,994 municipalities. Now, with the increase, the number of vacancies should jump to more than 15 thousand.
Professionals participating in Mais Médicos will receive an incentive to work in places that are difficult to access, with percentages that vary according to vulnerability, difficulty in finding doctors and the percentage of the population that depends solely on the SUS. Whoever is chosen will also be able to take a specialization course and a master’s degree in the area of family health.
Most professionals who have signed up so far are Brazilian.
