Minister says there will be no lack of resources to care for victims of storms

The Minister of Integration and Regional Development, Waldez Góes, said this Wednesday (22) that there will be no shortage of resources to assist the victims of the storms. The statement was made after a meeting with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) at the Planalto Palace.

“The resources continue to be what are in the ministry’s budget allocation, there will be no lack of budget, there will be no lack of financial resources. And, if there is a need for a provisional measure in the future, given the situations that may occur in other regions of the country, President Lula has already said so from the beginning. According to Góes, the federal government has mapped 14,000 points at risk of landslides in the country, where 4 million people live. The minister stated that the president intends to reactivate the PAC slopes to assist families in vulnerable situations.

“The PAC slopes was a project he created and was demobilized in the last four years. We found in the PAC slopes R$ 1.6 billion contracted and only R$ 2.7 million of budget appropriation. President Lula recomposed the PAC slopes, the entire prevention part, and endowed the Ministry of Cities with R$10 billion for housing,” he said. The minister also pointed out that the resumption of the Minha casa, Minha Vida housing program was “providential”.

In addition to Góes, the ministers of the Civil House, Rui Costa; of Cities, Jader Filho; from Institutional Relations, Alexandre Padilha; the Secretary of Communication, Paulo Pimenta; and the Executive Secretary of the Treasury, Gabriel Galípolo. During the meeting, the situation on the north coast of São Paulo and also the drought in Rio Grande Sul were discussed. On social media, the president released a photo of the meeting with the ministers.
