Minister says he does not know what Jean Wyllys’ role will be – 07/18/2023 – Panel

Twelve days after receiving former deputy Jean Wyllys alongside President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), minister Paulo Pimenta still does not know what role he will play in the Social Communication Secretariat.

According to Pimenta, Wyllys has not yet started working and there is no date for that to happen. Asked whether it is 100% certain that the former deputy will assume a position in the secretariat, the minister did not respond.

On July 6, Pimenta retweeted the photo alongside Wyllys and the president, in which the former deputy talks about rebuilding Brazil through communication.

Wyllys maintains a close relationship with the first lady, Rosângela da Silva, Janja, who received him in her office at the Planalto Palace.

Last weekend, Wyllys was involved in an argument with the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite (PSDB), whom he criticized for the decision to maintain civic-military schools in RS.

Jean said that “gays with internalized homophobia often develop a libido and a fetish for authoritarianism and uniforms.” Leite replied that he regretted the “ignorance” of the former deputy and classified the speech as “a depressing manifestation and full of prejudice in countless directions”.

Pimenta told the Panel that he has no opinion on the manifestation of the possible servant of Secom.

Wyllys was elected three times by the PSOL, but withdrew from his third term in 2019 and left Brazil citing political persecution and fearing for his safety after the murder of Marielle Franco. In 2021, he joined the PT and, after the 2022 elections, returned to Brazil.
