The Minister of Human Rights, Silvio Almeida, will speak at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva (Switzerland), this Monday (27), with the mission to regain a chair for Brazil in the body for the 2024 to 2026 term .
The minister should reinforce the message of the government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) that Brazil is once again a reliable partner on the international stage, after having moved away from the human rights agenda in the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
Almeida will be accompanied by the LGBTQIA+ national secretary, Symmy Larrat, who will be the first trans woman from Brazil to speak at the UN. The minister will have an agenda with representatives of this community and will propose alliances against hate speech.
