Minister Nísia Trindade, of Health, criticized the previous government in handling the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil, but did not mention the purchase of more than 500 million doses of vaccines.

The statements were given in a statement this Sunday night (7), in which he said that “many were the obstacles throughout this pandemic” and that “the worst impact was the loss of so many lives” (see in full).

According to official data, Covid-19 has killed around 700,000 people in the country. “Another result would have been if the previous government, throughout the pandemic, respected the recommendations of science. If the government’s obligations to protect the country’s population were followed and fulfilled,” he said in the statement.

Nísia commented on the development of vaccines against Covid-19 by the Butantan Institute and Fiocruz, but did not mention that the immunization campaign began in January 2021 with the purchase of 500 million doses by the government of Jair Bolsonaro (PL).
