Minister Margareth Menezes visits Parintins and highlights the representativeness of the Folk Festival

On Tupinambarana Island to honor the presentation of bumbas Caprichoso and Garantido, Margareth Menezes praises cultural value
Parintins (AM) – The Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Margareth Menezes, landed in Parintins (369 kilometers from Manaus), on the morning of this Friday (30th), to get to know the Parintins Folk Festival and align actions to strengthen the event and promote the culture of the North region. The Festival is recognized by the Cultural Heritage of Brazil, by the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute (Iphan).
“It is an honor to be here, in this special moment for the state of Amazonas, for Parintins and for Brazil, because this Festival has a cultural representation of memory, important for our cultural identity. I want to tell the people of Parintins and the two oxen that I am very happy to be having this opportunity, for the first time, to watch this great show”,
said the minister during a press conference held at the Bumbódromo.
The minister’s agenda began with the press conference at the Bumbódromo, where she got to know the arena and, also, the allegories of the bumbás that are located in the Bumbódromo concentration. Then, the minister visited State Government facilities to promote the event, at the Parintins Cathedral Square, such as the Turistódromo, Handicraft Fair and Culture Station. At night, she will honor the presentation of the bumbas Caprichoso and Garantido.
Also part of the entourage is the secretary of the Culture Committees, Roberta Martins, the secretary of Creative Economy and Cultural Development, Henilton Menezes, and the director of the Iphan’s Intangible Heritage Department, Deyvesson Israel Alves Gusmão.
The Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of Amazonas, Marcos Apolo Muniz, on behalf of the State Government, spoke of the importance of the city receiving the Minister of Culture to promote the strengthening of the event and the attraction of more visitors, boosting the economy of the region.
“It is a team that builds bridges, very accessible, very willing to, together with us, build this new moment. And this presence shows that the Federal Government understands that culture is an important economic vector for the country and, also, to review the concepts of society and the way we understand the world”,
pointed out Apollo.
Regarding the promotion of the Festival to tourists outside the country, the president of the State Tourism Company of Amazonas (Amazonastur), Gustavo Sampaio, explained some actions carried out by the State Government.
“We have been working to promote Parintins at the international fairs we participate in. This year, we have already been to Madrid, Portugal, Spain and the United States. And, in all the fairs we participate in, we work to promote Parintins internationally”,
Gustavo said.
Festival
The 56th Parintins Folk Festival is promoted by the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy. The event takes place from 21:00 this Friday (30/06), on Saturday (1st) and on Sunday (2nd).
