Play “Huma/” premieres at Parque dos Bilhares, in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – Still part of the preview season, the show “Huma/” will be performed again on the 2nd (Sunday), 8th (Saturday), 15th (Saturday) and 22nd (Saturday) of July, at 3:30 pm, at Parque dos Bilhares . Tickets cost BRL 20 (full ticket) and BRL 10 (half ticket) and will only be sold at the venue.

To watch the play, the public will have to go, until a maximum of 3:15 p.m., to the parking lot that gives access to the amphitheater and the roller skating rink of Parque dos Bilhares, located on Avenida Constantino Nery, in the direction of Bairro/Centro, in the Zona Centro -South of Manaus. On site, there will be a show team that will welcome and direct the public to the exact point in the Park where the montage will be staged.

The production of the play explains that it is important that people who want to watch it have to be punctual because taking the public to the specific location is part of the scenic work developed by the team.

The play has Leo Scantbelruy in the cast and has the direction and dramaturgy signed by Francisco Rider, preparation by Koia Refkalefsky, making of costumes by Preta Scantbelruy, production assistance by Ana Carolina Souza and photographic and audiovisual recording by Robert Coelho.

The assembly has the support of the State Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy (SEC) and the Municipal Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability (Semmas).

Francisco Rider explains that this new artistic work was conceived to be displayed in open spaces, such as bridges and viaducts, in addition to several other public places.

“The preview season is taking place at Parque dos Bilhares because ‘Huma/’ is a show for and with the urban environment of Manauara. The scenic work is built together with the place where it is presented, impacting the work itself”,

Who is Huma?

“Huma/” is a play in which an isolated woman lives in a “plague world”, but not only biological, above all the politics of death that devours us daily, as explained by the author of the drama.

“’Mundo-plague’ is a metaphor for all forms of violence, aggression, prejudice and phobias against bodies that are ‘unwanted’ by normative standards. One day, the character Huma decides to break out of this confinement and goes out into the street, encountering the invisible viruses of the plague. So, as a woman-citizen, who grew up in the civil-military dictatorship (1964 to 1984), she manifests herself”,

Francisco Rider clarifies that the work has several metaphors, starting with the title of the work, which contains a graphic sign: /. “The slash used in the play’s title refers to the slash and the existential challenges that the character experiences in this ‘plague world’. The slash (/) is also a dramatic cut in the word humanity”.

Featured artists in Brazil and abroad

The creation of “Huma/” includes veteran artists, such as Francisco Rider and Koia Refkalefsky, who have been active in the local, national and international art scene since the 1980s, and an artist of the new generation, Leo Scantbelruy, who already has ten years career, equally outstanding.

Francisco Rider is an autonomous artist from Manaus, who moves between the languages ​​of contemporary scenic arts (theatre, dance and performance) and visual arts. He did artistic improvement at the Movement Research Organization in New York (1996-1998), with a grant from Fundação Capes / MEC. He is also Master in Letters and Arts by PPGLA/UEA and Specialist in Cultural Management by Senac SP. Since 1980 he has been involved with the arts. He lived between the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and New York (1986-2006), where he worked as a performer, actor, dancer, producer, choreographer and artistic director. He was awarded by Rumos Itaú Cultural de São Paulo, Sesc São Paulo and Funarte Klauss Vianna, Proarte / SEC and Conexões Cultural Manauscult. He has presented his works in the USA, Europe, Latin America and Brazil.

Koia Refkalefsky is an actress, costume designer, trainer, creator of the theater group Loucozencena. She has been working at the Vitória Régia Theater Company for 35 years. She worked with art therapy for 30 years at the Eduardo Ribeiro Psychiatric Center. She wrote the book “Memória da Loucura” in partnership with Rosangela Aufiero and Monique Rothen. She acted in 15 theater plays and in cinema she participated in five films.

Leo Scantbelruy is 27 years old and is a trans artist from Manaus with more than ten years of career in the performing arts. He performed in several states in Brazil and abroad. He manages the cultural space Casa Passarinho, in the center of Manaus. He is part of the Levante MAO Movement for public policy claims for the working and autonomous category of the arts. He graduated with a degree in Theater from the University of the State of Amazonas. Among its awards and festivals, the Funarte Klauss Vianna Dance Award, Manaus Cultural Connections Award, Research and Scenic Investigation Award from the Breves Cenas Theater Festival, Young Creators Residency in AM, Festcine Amazônia, São Paulo International Theater Show, stand out.
