The minister of the Social Communication Secretariat of the Lula government, Paulo Pimenta, said this Sunday (9) that he does not trust the commercial media, and that is why President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will do weekly lives, after his trip to China. The information was released by Brazil 247.

Pimenta wants to provide more “transparency” and disseminate “reliable information” about the actions of the PT government. According to the minister, President Lula was willing to dialogue directly with the population. “The president will do weekly lives, after his return from China,” he said.

The minister also criticized the corporate media’s relationship with the government, and pointed out that there will be a reassembly of the programming of Empresa Brasil de Comunicação (EBC), which was found “destroyed”. “Can we trust the commercial media? We know we’re going to have fierce opposition. A good part of the press wanted to defeat Bolsonaro, but they are not committed to our project to transform the country. We cannot have the illusion that commercial media will be our ally,” he said.

On the 25th, the federal government launched the Brazil against Fake campaign, as one of the measures to praise the government’s actions. With the initiative, they intend to select news with potential misinformation that could harm members of the government, or that are related to topics of interest to the Executive, and oppose it with the “official” version of the government.
