The minister of the Social Communication Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic Paulo Pimenta participates, this Wednesday (24), in a public hearing in the Social Communication and Inspection and Control commissions of the Chamber of Deputies.

Pimenta was invited by deputies Gustavo Gayer (PL-GO) and Kim Kataguiri (União-SP) to provide clarifications on the government’s plan and actions on freedom of expression and of the press. The invitation came after a series of actions by the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva against social networks, especially Telegram.

According to Gayer, the minister’s presence will be important to clarify the role of the Secretariat for Digital Policies and the Department for the Promotion of Freedom of Expression. “The population is coerced not to demonstrate against any public policy of the government or against the attitudes of some politicians for fear of being persecuted”, says the parliamentarian.
