Minister asks for investigation by the PF and the Revenue on milk imports in Brazil – 09/29/2023 – Panel

Minister Paulo Teixeira (Agrarian Development) asked the Federal Police and Federal Revenue to investigate practices that may be contributing to what he calls an “exaggerated volume” of milk imports in Brazil.
“The first is triangulation. Producer entities say that milk close to expiration date is sent from New Zealand to Brazil via Mercosur countries”, says the minister. The second is rehydration, in which powdered milk is rehydrated and sold in the country.
According to Teixeira, irregular actions may be “helping to kill part of the milk production chain” in the country.
This Friday (29), the board of Contag (National Confederation of Rural Workers, Farmers and Family Farmers) sent a letter to the minister asking for possible dumping processes in the import of milk from other countries to be monitored.
In the document, the confederation says there are suspicions that Mercosur countries are selling products below the market price, “including the rehydration of powdered milk”, coming from countries outside Mercosur.
