Militant confesses to stealing meals worth more than R$500 on iFood

Left-wing activist Paulo Roberto da Silva Lima, known as Paulo Galo, confessed to stealing meals costing more than R$500 while he was an iFood delivery man. The confession took place through publications on X (formerly Twitter), after the repercussion of a publication by youtuber Felipe Netowho would have been left without Christmas dinner after ordering a R$1200 meal on the same app.

Upon admitting the thefts, Paulo Galo justified that he thought it was “disgraceful” to spend on a meal the amount he and his family used to feed themselves for a month. “I thought it was a challenge to have to deliver a [sic] meal worth my family’s monthly purchase,” he said.

Paulo Galo became famous after being blamed for setting fire to the statue of Borba Gato, in São Paulo. In his publications, the activist also signaled his intention to run for councilor. “The people are crazy to block my candidacy for councilor lol! And I’m the stupid one, incredible! #galovereador”, joked the activist, after admitting the robberies.

A hashtag, which demonstrates the activist’s intention to run in the 2024 elections, It was also used in the publication in which Paulo Galo reinforces the robbery and says he has no regrets about his actions. “The Right is angry with Felipe Neto who ordered 1 and 200 of food and is angry with me because one day I ate a meal costing 750 reais hahaha. There are some PT members who are angry too! That little file [sic] The parmigiana was delicious! No regrets! #galovereador”, wrote Paulo Galo.

Internet users criticized the possible pre-candidate’s stance. “Are you going to treat taxpayers’ money the same way you treated your customers’ food?”, asked one of the internet users in the comments.

In another section, the activist also suggested that he had faked traffic accidents to justify one of the orders that were not delivered. “There was a time when we didn’t even have anything to eat at home and an order for 750 reais came out to be picked up in an Italian cantina and delivered to Moema, in that [sic] One day I fell off my motorcycle and went to heal with my family!”, wrote the former iFood delivery man.
