Michelin Guide will evaluate hotels; see criteria – 10/06/2023 – Tourism

A reference in restaurants for 123 years, the Michelin Guide entered the world of hotels. From 2024, the publication of the same name as the French tire manufacturer will classify “the most exceptional hotels in the world” — not with stars, but with keys.
The new selection will evaluate around 5,000 hotels in 120 countries, with a variety of price ranges and styles. One of the publication’s goals is to guide travelers to accommodations “that offer much more than just a room for a night,” according to the company.
The publication will assign keys to establishments based on five criteria: local experience, individuality, excellence in architecture and interior design, quality and consistency in service and consistent value for money.
The idea is to help tourists combine gastronomic experiences with a memorable stay at a hotel. The Guide also wants to enable users to choose, book and comment on the experience on a single platform.
The first Michelin keys will be announced in the first half of 2024, the company said. All of these establishments can be reserved through their website, an operation that will generate commissions for Michelin.
