Scientific and cultural exhibition to popularize and democratize knowledge in ST&I in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – Promoting the popularization and democratization of knowledge in Science, Technology and Innovation (ST&I) through artistic manifestations is the goal of the event “Experiences and experiences: II Scientific and Cultural Exhibition, at the Ângelo Ramazzotti State School, held in Manaus. The event takes place on the 10th and 11th of October, and has the support of the State Government, through the Amazonas State Research Support Foundation (Fapeam) – via the Support Program for the Popularization of Science, Technology and Innovation ( POP CT&I) – Notice 004/2023.
The coordinator of the meeting and professor at the State Department of Education and Sports, master in Chemistry Larissa Tereza dos Santos Reis, highlights that the event aims to promote the popularization of sciences through artistic manifestations, disseminating, through lectures and activities , the experiences of professionals who are part of the scientific and artistic universe.
Furthermore, the action also encourages female protagonism in science, provides opportunities for critical reflection on the relationships between science, education and scientific dissemination through work presentations, as well as, it aims to train participants to understand and use new references on the border between the fields of arts and science, as pointed out by the coordinator, emphasizing the importance of Fapeam’s support in holding the event.
“Fapeam plays a fundamental role as a funding institution by supporting this event, promoting student access to science and culture, stimulating interest and curiosity, in addition to contributing to the formation of a more informed society engaged in scientific development and cultural”,
highlighted Larissa Reis.
Schedule
According to the Exhibition’s schedule, in parallel with the artistic presentations, activities will be carried out that cover the theme of the 2023 National Science and Technology Week (SNCT), with a series of lectures, including the theme “Bicentenary of Independence: 200 years of science, technology and innovation in Brazil”, which will seek to highlight scientific contributions in the last two decades in the country.
Another lecture will address the theme “200 years of Women in Sciences”, seeking to encourage female protagonism in science, through sharing the experiences of great women who contributed in the last two decades of history and in the scientific and artistic development of Brazilian society.
A Graffiti workshop entitled “Art with Science” will also be held, carried out by an artistic professional who addresses the dissemination of science through graffiti art.
“With this activity, we intend to enable participants to understand and use new references on the border between the fields of arts and science. A graffiti mural will also be produced with the aim of uniting art, science and interactivity with the school community, with the participation of a guest artist”,
added Larissa Reis.
During the two days, presentations of the works registered in the II Scientific and Cultural Exhibition of the Ângelo Ramazzotti State School will be held, which will take place throughout the venue of the preponding institution, in the form of lectures, exhibitions, themed rooms and workshops, in addition to banner presentations. The activity aims to provide space for the dissemination of results obtained by scientific projects developed both at the preponding school and also at other schools in the public network of Manaus, to encourage the free dissemination, circulation and appropriation of scientific knowledge that connect artistic-cultural manifestations and scientific concepts.
The action will involve the participation of institutions and projects that develop research, teaching and extension, to occupy these spaces and provide the participating public with the appreciation of actions that communicate science and awaken interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary or transdisciplinary practices.
“With this, we seek to stimulate the generation of content and the sharing of experiences in disseminating and popularizing science, as effective tools for improving the lives of the population”,
observed the coordinator.
Enrollment
Students and guardians from the Ângelo Ramazzotti state school, as well as teachers and students from other schools who want to present the results of projects developed in basic education in banner format, can register for the activities.
