Manaus (AM) – The eight federal deputies elected by Amazonas were sworn in, this Wednesday (1), at the Plenary Ulysses Guimarães of the Federal Chamber, in Brasília. The bench is made up of four re-elected parliamentarians and four newcomers to office.
The inaugural session of the 57th Legislature began around 10 am, with the deputies from the North Region being the first to take the oath.
With 50% renewal, the federal bench of Amazonas will have as rookies the deputies: Amom Mandel (Citizenship), Adail Filho (Republicans), Saullo Vianna (União Brasil) and Fausto Santos Jr (União Brasil).
Captain Alberto Neto (PL), Silas Câmara (Republicans), Atila Lins (PSD) and Sdiney Leite (PSD) are heading for their second term in the Legislative House.
Of the 513 federal deputies sworn in, 280 were re-elected and another 233 will hold office for the first time or return to the House.
At the inauguration ceremony, federal deputy Amom Mandel (Citizenship) highlighted his commitment to combating corruption, as well as defending the environmental agenda for the growth of the Amazon region. Amom was the most voted federal deputy in Amazonas, with 288,555 votes.
“I have the environmental issue as my main guidelines, especially now with the setting of the carbon credit market in Brazil, and also the issue of climate change. I also carry the issue of inspection, the 17 SDGs as a whole and the issue of efficiency with public money. I hope that together we can make a positive contribution to these and other important issues for our country”, he declared.
One of the youngest parliamentarians in the Chamber, deputy Amom Mandel announced that he will launch the “mobile cabinet” to make the mandate more participatory. It is also part of the shared cabinet. In that cabinet, Amom and other deputies will share the same advisers.
“One of the main ideals that I carry in my mandate is popular participation, I use social networks as a way to legitimize this mandate, to have this direct contact with the population, in addition to, of course, maintaining a presence in the communities. Allied to this, transparency continues to be our North and the continuous fight for the efficiency of the public service. I will honor all the 288,000 votes I received from the Amazonian population”, declared Amom.
Upon being sworn in, Deputy Fausto Jr (União Brasil) stated that he will defend the family and Christian values during his mandate. He will leave the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam) to occupy a seat in the Federal Chamber.
“With independence, responsibility, in a technical and constructive way, I will present proposals aiming, above all, at the good of Amazonas and our country”, highlighted the deputy.
After the inauguration ceremony, deputy Alberto Neto (PL) highlighted that his mandate will seek development and new alternatives for the economy of Amazonas.
“In this second term I want to focus on generating new economic matrices, such as unlocking the potassium issue that will generate jobs in the interior of the State, in addition to defending the Manaus Free Trade Zone during the tax reform”, he said.
