The Ministry of Education (MEC) articulates an interministerial decree for the installation of a working group in order to elaborate a national policy to combat violence in schools. The information was published by the government’s state TV, after the attack that killed 4 children at a day care center in Blumenau (SC).

“In response to the brutality of the attack on the day care center in Santa Catarina, the MEC (@min_educacao) articulates an inter-ministerial decree for the installation of a working group in order to elaborate a national policy to combat violence in schools”, wrote the @TVBrasilGov on twitter.

The tragedy occurred on the morning of this Wednesday (5). According to police, a 25-year-old man invaded the day care center with an ax and attacked the children as they were playing in the school playground.

Despite the announcement, the federal government has not yet provided details of when the group will be officially installed, nor what its composition will be.

The Minister of Justice and Public Security, Flávio Dino, informed that he will participate in a meeting with President Lula, this Wednesday afternoon (5), to discuss “measures to support states, municipalities, private schools and their communities”.
