However, the MPAM denied the prefecture’s argument, and pointed to the transfer of BRL 12.2 million of Fundeb resources to the municipality, with a monthly average of BRL 2,039,720.08, “so there is no way to talk that transfers from the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and Valorization of Education Professionals – Fundeb are being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic”.

What is Fundeb?
The permanence of the Fund for the Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and the Valorization of Education Professionals (Fundeb) was approved in 2020 by the Federal Congress and aims to redistribute resources destined for the various areas of education, such as basic, kindergarten, medium and the Education of Young Adults (EJA).
