Mayara debates Regionalization of Health and investments in Women’s Health

According to the deputy, the delivery of the report allows legislators a broad view of health in the Amazon

The presentation meeting of the Quarterly Report of the Secretary of State for Health took place, last Thursday afternoon (22), bringing together members of the Health Commission of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (ALEAM) and representatives of SES/AM.

The meeting consists of exposing and analyzing demographic and mortality data, resources applied to health, execution of the PAS, actions in Health, workforce, network of services, beds, production of services, assistance, audit activities and state parliamentary amendments , from January to April of this year.

For the President of the ALEAM Health Commission, state deputy Dr. Mayara Pinheiro Reis (Republicans), the delivery and appreciation of the report allows legislators a broader view of the reality of health in Amazonas and the debate on possible actions to alleviate the difficulties faced in the state.

“With the proper mapping and data exposure, it is possible to better understand how the health system in Amazonas is working and how we can act to solve some problems and also a way to supervise the application of resources destined by the Legislative House so that the service to the population improve”

explained the deputy.

According to SES, the total number of hospitalizations decreased by approximately 29% in 2023 compared to 2022 and the time in the waiting list for consultations and exams decreased. Of the 53 proposed targets, 30% were completely achieved.

On fundraising, Dr. Mayara, once again, spoke about the need to seek funding and raise federal funds to help Amazonas balance its accounts and improve investments in health.

“I talk about the importance of Roof Mac, because it is our main fight, since the first term. I already had this experience when I was deputy mayor in Coari and we doubled the amounts received and applied them to local health. The search for these resources and federal contributions are essential to increase the number of beds, improve service and investments both in the capital and in the interior”

said the doctor.

The figures presented in relation to women’s health were also highlighted by the deputy, who called for the implementation of programs aimed at women from the interior, such as Ver e Tratar Colo do Útero, which provides for the diagnosis and treatment of uterine cancer and Sentinela da Vida, whose purpose is to identify and monitor high-risk pregnancies in order to reduce maternal mortality in the state.

“Faced with the figures presented, I would like to ask once again that the Ver e Tratar Colo do Utero Project be able to go to the interior. We are already proposing to allocate amendments for this project to be implemented in the hub municipalities so that the conization of pre-cancerous lesions is carried out before they turn into uterine cervix cancer. We also have the high risk of pregnant women and to combat this I have already created the Sentinela da Vida Program, so that this pregnant woman is accompanied by a multidisciplinary team and that we can work to prevent these deaths. I know the difficulties, but they are programs that can be put into practice”

said the president.

SES was represented by the Executive Secretary for Management, Administration and Finance (SEGAF), Jani Kenta Iwata and by the Director of the Planning Department at SES-AM, Priscilla Soares. Also present at the meeting were Dr. Gomes (PSC) and George Lins (União Brasil), members of Aleam’s Health Commission.
