Matthäus exposes Bayern crisis and blasts Thomas Tuchel

When Harry Kane finally left Tottenham, after 4369 days defending the English club, his expectation was to win titles – something he didn’t do in England – in the powerful Bayern Munchen. But what he found when he landed in Germany was something very different: an internal crisis.
The defeat this Saturday (12) by the German Super Cup gave a taste of what the scorer will find in the new challenge. Bayern lost, at home, to RB Leipzig. Dani Olmo was responsible for the three goals of the match, two of them scored in the first half. The result did not please Lothar Matthäus at all, idol of the team and of German football.
“What Tuchel has shown is that he still hasn’t managed to assemble his team”, analyzed the former player. “The team lost 3-0 to Leipzig at home. Two 10-year-olds have asked me why the team hasn’t hit the ground running yet, but I’ll keep my answer to myself.”
According to Matthäus, who was blunt in his words, Tuchel is not convinced of what he is doing in charge of the team. “Why does Upamecano play instead of Kim (Min-jae)? Who did Tuchel want to sign? Why does Kimmich play as an 8 and not as a defensive midfielder, where he is at his best level and performance globally?”, he vented. “Why does Kimmich keep taking corners after hundreds of missed corners? It’s better to give Sané those chances.”
“Opportunities were not seized. We lost again. As usual, nothing new”, Matthäus raged. “Tuchel’s comments surprised me and they are negative. I’m sure this will cause resentment and surprise among the players,” he concluded, highlighting the bad mood that pervades Bayern’s changing rooms.
Thinking of Harry Kane, newly signed by the club, Matthäus says the England star must be wondering if there has even been training in Munich in the last four weeks. There was nothing the striker could do to avoid defeat to RB Leipzig on Saturday. There were no great passes that left the striker in a position to score on his debut for the German team.
