Martial arts: Amapá athletes stand out in competitions and prepare for new disputes – News of Brazil

Athletes from Amapa who participated in the Grand Slam 23, in Rio de Janeiro, guaranteed victory and a place in the Brazilian Youth Taekwondo Team, in addition to a place to compete in the Junior Pan American Championship, in the Dominican Republic, and in the School World Cup, in Mexico.
Athletes Wyctoria Rodrigues and Evelyn do Vale receive support from the Municipality of Macapá, through the Sports and Leisure Coordination (Comel) to carry out the trips.
Wyctoria Rodrigues, who fights in the up to 42 kg category, had her first contact with the sport in 2016. For health reasons, it was at that moment that she began to seriously dedicate herself to taekwondo.
“It was a great emotion to join the Brazilian team. In 2020, I got a spot, but with the pandemic I couldn’t represent our state or Brazil in international competitions”, said the athlete, who is also very happy with the opportunity to get to know the world through the sport she loves.
Evelyn do Vale, who competes in the 68 kg category, started practicing taekwondo through fight projects offered in the city. The athlete is proud to represent her parents in competitions abroad.
“I was very satisfied with this achievement of mine, I will take it for the rest of my life. Joining the national team has always been a dream for me and my family,” said the athlete.
Another historic event for martial arts in Macapá was the entry of the athlete Robson Nascimento to the reserve of the Brazilian Karate Team, after placing 2nd in the competition that took place in Ceará.
“It’s very satisfying. This is the result of a long time work. It is the first time that an Amapá citizen arrives at the reserve of the national team. I can only thank the City of Macapá and coordinator Bruno for the resources”, declares Ederson Coutinho, the athlete’s coach.
“The feeling is of improvement and very great. Last year I did the tryouts and lost the fight, but now I’m stronger. I had a good performance and it was great to compete there with the best in the country”, said Robson.
The athletes prepare for their next competitions, now being part of the Brazilian team.
