Márcio França reacts to Tarcísio’s optimism and rules out privatization of the port of Santos – 04/11/2023 – Panel

In an event of the government’s 100-day balance sheet, this Monday (10), Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) said he saw favorable signs from the Lula government (PT) to the privatization of the port of Santos by not including it in the list of companies that were withdrawn from the National Privatization Program. Sought by the Panel, Márcio França, Minister of Ports and Airports, disagrees with the interpretation of the governor of São Paulo.

“An elected governor of São Paulo must always be heard. And respected. But our understanding, following 99% of the international port world and the results of the polls, is that port authorities must be public. However, unlike the previous government [Jair Bolsonaro, do PL]we have no preconceptions about arguing with those who disagree”, he says.

In his interview, Tarcísio said that privatization depends on the federal government, which has given space for dialogue with the state administration.

France admits the possibility of granting terminals at the port of Santos, but not the port authority, considered strategic.
