Manaus (AM) – Singer and composer from São Paulo Marcelo Jeneci will sing MPB hits in Manaus. The show, carried out by Projeto MPB em Movimento, takes place this Monday (2), at 7:30 pm, at Teatro Manauara. Singer Lucilene Castro opens the presentation.

The MPB em Movimento Project is signed by the Bahian producer Caderno 2 Produções and is sponsored by Petrobras, through the Federal Culture Incentive Law – Brazilian Ministry of Culture.

With the project, the public has access to shows by renowned artists. Each performance features local singers or bands as opening acts.

According to Dalmo Peres, director of Caderno 2 Produções, the initiative seeks to value and give visibility to the cultural production of each place it passes through.

“The idea is that the project is not restricted to stages and becomes a platform for promoting Brazilian popular music, in which musicians and spectators can share experiences and collaborate”,

explained.

In 22 years on the road, MPB em Movimento toured 20 cities, promoting more than 500 shows and 1,500 hours of music. In total, more than 1 million spectators have already applauded names of national prestige, such as: Lenine, João Bosco, Zeca Baleiro, Ivan Lins, Guilherme Arantes, Teresa Cristina, Paulinho Moska, Vander Lee, 14 Bis, Moraes Moreira, Rosa Passos, Jorge Ben Jor, Marina Lima and Luiz Melodia.

About the artists

Marcelo Jeneci

Born in São Paulo, Marcelo Jeneci is a singer and composer. On stage, the artist presents his greatest hits to the sound of the keyboard and an accordion, which was introduced to him by master Dominguinhos.

A striking feature of Marcelo Jeneci is how he inserts the accordion into a contemporary context, combining it with analog synthesizers, programmed beats and symphonic arrangements.

The artist’s songs gained prominence in film soundtracks, TV shows and more than ten soap opera soundtracks.

Acclaimed by the public and specialized critics as one of the great names in Brazilian popular music, the artist has been recorded by names such as Marisa Monte, Carlinhos Brown, Arnaldo Antunes, Chico César and Marina Lima.

Some of his songs gained recognition, such as the hits from his first album, “Feito Pra Acabar” (2010): “Pra Sonhar”, with more than 25 million views on YouTube, and “Felicidade”, with more than 20 million.

Lucilene Castro

Lucilene Castro is an Amazonian artist full of achievements. She won the award for best performer at several music festivals. On the list are the Parintins Song Festival (1991) and the Amazonas University Music Festival (1993).

She was considered the best singer (setter) at the Villa Lobos Foundation Toadas Festival, for three consecutive years (1993/1994/1995).

She was also among the protagonists of the musicals: “Mulheres do Brasil – Cantoras do Amazonas” (2001), “Maria, Maria – Uma voyage through the feminine universe” (2003/2004), “Caia na Gandaia – a ‘rival’ from the 70s ” (2004), “Passion, crazy passion” (2005), “But you can call me Chico” (2012). The artist also produces the shows.

The singer has recorded eight CDs and is one of the protagonists of the project “Elas cantam samba”, a group that has recorded two albums and a DVD.
