Brazil took the podium this Friday (3) in the opening stage of the world triathlon circuit, in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates). Manoel Messias, from Ceará, won bronze in the event, which is worth points for the world ranking – the best placed qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Messiah completed the race (750 meters swim, 20 km bike and 5 km run) in 53min06s. The gold went to the current Olympic champion, the British ale yee (52min53s), and silver with the Portuguese Vasco Vilaça (52min59s).
The start of the dispute was not good for the 26-year-old from Ceará, who came second to last in swimming, the first triathlon dispute. However, Messiah he made up for lost time in the following stages: he was second fastest in cycling, advancing many positions. Finally, in the race, he kept up the intense pace until he secured his first podium of the year.
The bronze won this Friday (3) is the second on the world circuit in the athlete’s career. In October of last year, Messias also won third place in the stage of Cagliari (Italy). Earlier, in September, he won gold at the Valencia (Spain) stage of the World Cup.
