With a great incentive to reading, the initiative promotes the dissemination of the works of Amazonian writers
Manaus (AM) – The Mania de Ler Program presents, this Sunday (06/18), from 5 pm to 8 pm, a program entirely directed to the Brazilian Sign Language (Libras), at Largo São Sebastião. Under the command of writer Fernanda Ferreira, the edition features reading activities, storytelling and a Libras workshop.
Fernanda is the author of the book “Libras: Mãos que fala”, which aims to promote knowledge in Libras to generate a more inclusive and accessible society for all. On the occasion, there will be a presentation of the work and distribution of didactic material for the workshop taught by her.
“We will present the alphabet and numbers, being themes for the first contact with the Brazilian sign language, which is our second official language in Brazil, and thus, promoting this knowledge to the population and generating communication between the deaf and hearing people”, says Fernanda.
According to the author, the Mania de Ler program is a great opportunity for Amazonian authors to publicize their work and contribute to cultural enrichment.
“This project is super important for society, since its objective is to encourage and rescue reading. Show families the beauty of storytelling, which directly influences the cognitive development of children,” she points out.
Sponsored by the Government of Amazonas, through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy, the project has a collection of a thousand books on different themes of regional and national literature kept in two mobile libraries designed especially for children. According to secretary Marcos Apolo Muniz, the initiative is a propitious moment for promoting the teaching of Libras.
“Mania de Ler has played a very important role in encouraging reading, which reaches families across the state. In this sense, bringing this important content values and empowers a community that is often invisible. In addition, learning Libras from an early age stimulates the good development of children”, concludes the secretary.
