Manaus (AM) – Seventy-four points of Manaus City Hall will offer the vaccine against Covid-19 this week, from Monday to Friday, the 24th to the 28th, as part of the immunization campaign against the disease, coordinated by the Municipal Health Secretariat (Semsa). The units of the municipal health network are distributed in all geographical areas of the capital.
The municipal secretary of Health, Shádia Fraxe, informs that the vaccine against the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) is indicated for all audiences, from babies from 6 months of age to the elderly, including adults, children and adolescents.
“It is important to remind parents and guardians of children under 12 that they do not fail to protect their children by updating the vaccination card with the doses of the primary scheme and booster doses, within the deadlines and intervals indicated”,
highlighted the secretary.
The holder of Semsa Manaus points out that the immunization of babies from 6 months and children under 12 years of age takes place in specific units for childhood vaccination. In the municipal network, 14 units serve babies from 6 months to 4 years old, and 34 receive children from 5 to 11 years old for immunization against Covid-19.
The Semsa Manaus units operate at regular hours, from 8am to 5pm, nine of which offer the service at extended hours, from 8am to 8pm, in a strategy by the municipal department to expand the population’s access to immunizations and reinforce vaccination against Covid-19. The list of units, with addresses and opening hours, can be found on the website semsa.manaus.am.gov.br or via the direct link bit.ly/localvacinacovid19.
At vaccination points, users must present a photo ID, CPF or National Health Card (CNS) and vaccine card to receive the vaccine. It is possible to consult the vaccination status and check the doses to be applied on the Imuniza Manaus online platform (imuniza.manaus.am.gov.br).
doses and deadlines
Shádia Fraxe recalls that vaccines against Covid-19 have played a fundamental role in reducing hospitalizations and deaths from the disease since the beginning of the immunization campaign, and reinforces that the immunobiologicals offered in the basic health care network are effective and safe. The complete vaccination schedule includes the primary schedule of 1st and 2nd doses, plus a booster dose.
The current planning of the national campaign foresees the use of bivalent vaccines as a booster dose for people aged 18 and over and adolescents from groups with greater vulnerability, risks of complications and death and greater exposure. Monovalent vaccines are aimed at people who are going to start or complete the primary scheme, and as a booster dose for adolescents aged 12 to 17 who are not part of priority groups.
Both monovalent and bivalent vaccines act in the same way in the body, stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies and defense cells against the Sars-CoV-2 virus.
Information about the Municipal Vaccination Campaign against Covid-19 is available on Semsa Manaus social networks, on the @semsamanaus profile on Instagram and Semsa Manaus on Facebook, through which users can also clarify doubts.
