The play “They Were Happily Ever After” was starred by elderly students from the Amazon Foundation
Manaus (AM) — At 70 years old, Marli is a lady who lives at home, regretting her life. By magic, she meets fairytale characters who will make her reflect on her career. This is the plot of “They were happily ever after”, a show presented at the Open University Foundation for the Third Age (FUnATI) in three sessions, on Wednesday (6) and Thursday (7).
Starring students from the Renascer Izael Tavares Theater group, the play proposes a new look at classic fairy tale stories, through a playful and educational approach.
According to professor Lilian Machado, who coordinates the group, the assembly is an invitation to FUnATI workshops, in addition to reinforcing care for healthy aging.
“The show encourages elderly people who have not yet woken up to come and do the activities, to come and do them. We grow old, but we can’t stop, because if princesses who are princesses grow old and can be happy, so can we”,
said the teacher.
Cinderella’s message
Student Carminha Guedes, 76 years old, has been in the theater group for more than a decade and celebrates her participation as Cinderella in this show.
“Cinderella for me is a renewal. She enters the scene very forgotten, looking for her little shoe, but soon finds it. It’s a reflection of many women, sometimes we forget who we really are, our personality. It’s important to stand firm and know who we are,” said the student.
The group is part of the FUnATI Extension Dean’s Office, with theatrical and musical performances, involving around 30 artists, the majority of whom are people over 60 years of age. They have already performed in other states and municipalities in Amazonas, as well as on stages such as Teatro Amazonas, Manauara Shopping and others.
