‘Manaus Olímpica’ athletes win 4 golds on the first day of the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship

City Hall program emerges as a means of providing opportunities and placing Amazonian talent in the main competitions in Brazil
Last Saturday (29), the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Championship began in Barueri (SP). Manaus City Hall, through the Manaus Sport Foundation (FME), provided 42 athletes with airline tickets to participate in the competition, which is organized by the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Confederation (CBJJ) and runs until May 7th.
The first day of disputes was positive for the children from Manaus, with the winning of four gold medals and one silver. Ana Izabelle da Silva (orange belt), Pedro Phelipe Bezerra (yellow belt), Eduarda Barroso Borges (yellow belt) and Adriano Medeiros Morilo (orange belt), climbed to the highest place on the podium, in the children’s category. Paulo Messias Aciole secured the silver medal in the junior category.
The City Hall’s “Manaus Olímpica” program appears as a means of providing opportunities and placing Amazonian talent in the main competitions in Brazil and the world in various sports. The contemplated fighters guaranteed their spots and tickets through the program’s selection organized by the FME, which took place in early March and brought together more than 400 participants.
“Our start in the Brazilian Nationals was satisfactory and we have a lot ahead of us. It’s a top-level championship. The whole process was executed and respected so that we arrived in Barueri with a competitive delegation. We hope that our athletes enjoy and also have fun”, said FME’s CEO, Aurilex Moreira.
The biggest jiu-jitsu championship in the country and one of the biggest in the world, the CBJJ Brasileiro has more than seven thousand registered athletes from different Brazilian municipalities. This year’s edition is the largest in number of participants in the history of the competition.
