Manaus Industrial Pole produces 764,000 motorcycles in the first half of 2023

Compared to the same period in 2022, this year there was an increase of 13.9% of motorcycles produced by factories in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – Factories installed in the Industrial Pole of Manaus (PIM) produced 764,271 motorcycles in the first half of 2023, up 13.9% compared to the same period last year. According to a survey by the Brazilian Association of Motorcycle, Moped, Scooter, Bicycle and Similar Manufacturers – Abraciclo, this is the best result for the first six months since 2014.

In June, 95,274 motorcycles were manufactured, a volume 6.3% lower compared to the same month last year.

In the accumulated result for the year, 780,070 motorcycles were licensed, an increase of 22.5% compared to the same period in 2022. In June, 140,387 motorcycles were licensed, an increase of 16.2% compared to the same month last year.

The daily average of sales in June, which had 21 business days, was 6,685 motorcycles.

Review of projections for 2023

Abraciclo has just revised its production projection to 1,560,000 units in 2023, up 10.4% compared to last year. “We reached the best brand of motorcycles produced in the first semester since 2014. Based on the associates’ projections, combined with a favorable macroeconomic scenario for the second semester, we believe that the industry will reach a growth of more than 10%”, says the president of Abraciclo, Marcos Bento.

The association also revised estimates for retail sales and business with the foreign market. Licensing should total 1,511,000 units, growth of 10.9% compared to last year. As for exports, the new estimate is that 49,000 motorcycles will be shipped, a decrease of 11.5% compared to 2022.

With 408,942 units and 52.4% of market share, Street was the most registered category in the first half. In second place was Trail (145,364 motorcycles and 18.6% of the market), followed by Motoneta (104,543 units and 13.4%).

In the monthly registration ranking, the positions were maintained: Street (72,991 units and 52% market share), Trail (25,918 motorcycles and 18.5%) and Motoneta (19,767 units and 14.1%).

According to a survey by Abraciclo, 114,816 low-capacity motorcycles were licensed in June, which corresponds to 81.8% of the market. Medium displacement models had 21,120 units registered (15% of the market), while high displacement motorcycles registered 4,451 registrations (3.2%).

Sales of medium displacement motorcycles registered the highest growth, of 29.8% compared to June 2022.
