Manaus faces Brusque-SC for the first time after the 2019 Série D final

Manaus (AM) – Manaus FC receives, this Sunday (23), Brusque-SC for the 14th round of the 2023 Brazilian Series C Championship.

Emerald supporters can purchase their tickets until 6 pm this Saturday (22) at the official store in Manaus, located at Rua Salvador, number 441, in the Da Vinci Center, Adrianópolis neighborhood.

On the day of the match, fans buy tickets at the Arena da Amazônia ticket office, starting at 1pm. The value for this duel against Brusque-SC is R$ 20 (single half price ticket). Those unable to go to the stadium can watch it on Nosso Futebol channels, available on both Claro TV and SKY.

Coach of Gavião do Norte, Moacir Júnior highlighted the importance of the current duel in relation to the history of the confrontation, remembering the 2019 Series D final.

“It is important, mainly, for the history of the club. But we know that other athletes were here, it was another moment. Now we are also in a decisive moment for us, where we intend to play a strong game and climb the table. We have looked at it that way. Let’s think that the story of the game is special, respecting that emblematic game with a crowded Arena”,

Retrospect

This will be the first meeting between Manaus and Brusque-SC after that historic final at the Arena da Amazônia, where the team from Santa Catarina won on penalties after two equal 2-2 results, both in the South and in the capital of Amazonas.

In the current season, coach Luizinho Lopes’ team, formerly of Manaus, has already played 33 matches: 17 for the Campeonato Catarinense, 13 for Série C do Brasileiro so far, 2 for the Copa do Brasil and 1 for the Recopa Catarinense. In the State, he was runner-up after losing to Criciúma; already in the Copa do Brasil, he fell in the second phase to the CSA-AL, while in the Recopa he was champion by beating Marcílio Dias-SC.

Both the emerald team and the team from Santa Catarina changed a lot in relation to that match. However, a character who was on the field that day will also be on the field on Sunday: midfielder Gama, who recently arrived at Manaus and who played for Brusque-SC in the 2019 season. After debuting against São Bernardo-SP, last Saturday (15), the athlete spoke about that historic final.

“It will be an important game, where the final was that time (2019 Series D) when I was at Brusque-SC. It was a historic game, both for Brusque-SC and for Manaus. Now I’m on Manaus’s side and I intend to help the club win this game and get the three points”,

said the new Manaus player.

In addition to Brusque-SC, Gavião Real faced two other teams from Santa Catarina in history: Figueirense-SC, in Series C last season, where the teams tied 1-1 at Arena da Amazônia for the 11th round of the competition; and Camboriú-SC, executioner of the emerald team in this year’s Copa do Brasil. The victory on Sunday could mark Manaus’ first triumph over teams from Santa Catarina, therefore.

Currently in 14th place, Manaus has 14 points on the leaderboard and is five away from São José-RS, last placed in the group that advances to the final quadrangular in eighth position. At the moment, Gavião Real is 1 point away from the relegation zone, which has Remo-PA in first place on the Z4.

While Manaus comes from a 1-1 tie against São Bernardo-SP, last Saturday (15), at the Arena da Amazônia, the team from Santa Catarina comes from four consecutive victories. Last Saturday (8), the team from the interior of Santa Catarina beat Confiança-SE by 4-0, in a game held at the Augusto Bauer stadium, in Brusque (SC).
