Ivan Rejane Pinto was arrested in July 2022 after defending the end of the STF and threatening ministers: “We are going to hang you upside down”
Imprisoned since July 2022, Ivan Rejane Fonte Boa Pinto, received a release order following a decision by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), on Friday (27).
He, who is a Bolsonarist activist, was arrested for publishing videos on social media in which he threatened Supreme Court ministers and incited violence and the closure of the Court.
When deciding to release, Moraes, who was also the one who ordered the arrest at the request of the Federal Police, wrote that “there are no reasons for maintaining the extreme precautionary measure, whose effectiveness has already been demonstrated to be sufficient and can be effectively replaced by alternative measures”.
These measures include the use of an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet; passport cancellation; suspension of weapons possession; and obligation to appear in court every Monday.
He continues to be prosecuted for using social networks and messaging applications against the Democratic Rule of Law, defending the extinction of the STF and violent actions against its members and spreading false news about members of the Court.
“We’re going to hang you upside down.”
In a video to promote Bolsonarist demonstrations on September 7, 2022, Ivan named the STF ministers by name and made threats. “They disappear from Brazil. We’re going to hang you upside down,”
he stated.
In another recording circulating on social media he said: “If I were you, Barroso, Fux, Fachin, Moraes, Lewandowski, Mendes, I would stay in the United States, in Portugal, in Europe, in the bitch that gave birth to you. Even you two bitches, Cármen Lúcia and Rosa Weber. Sumam from Brazil.”
