Akad, a digital insurance company that has the GP fund as a partner, has teamed up with Stone, one of the giants of vending machines, to accelerate sales of policies for small and medium-sized companies. ]
With the agreement, it incorporates 40,000 Stone customers into its base and plans to reach 80,000 policyholders by the end of the year.
The insurer offers combos with up to 15 types of coverage. The main ones are against fire, theft and electrical failure, up to R$ 100,000. The monthly fee is around R$100.
“In Brazil, only 13% of establishments have some type of business insurance”, says Danilo Gamboa, CEO of Akad. “In the US and Europe, this percentage reaches 80%.”
Still according to the executive, the insurance market for companies in the country moves around US$ 9 billion (3.5% of GDP) and the goal is to reach US$ 27 billion (10% of GDP) in the coming years.
According to Gamboa, the shopkeeper who owns a Stone will be able to take out insurance automatically. Today, the brand has 1.5 million machines and the partnership covers around 1 million across the country.
Akad was created by GP and Cyberlabs (Latin America’s largest Artificial Intelligence company, founded by Marcelo Salles, founder of companies such as iFood and Movile.
