Lula’s trip to China should have balance of new business – 09/04/2023 – Panel

Rescheduled for Tuesday (11), President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) trip to China should include the announcement of a new business balance between the governments and companies of both countries.
The negotiations were carried out by representatives of the Brazilian government and businessmen who were in the Asian country at the end of March. The petista did not participate in this first round of conversations due to a case of pneumonia that prevented him from traveling.
Among the advanced deals that should be announced are the sale of 20 Embraer aircraft (the Brazilian aviation company has not sold to China for five years), the signing of an agreement between Suzano and the Chinese ship company Cosco for the construction of 17 vessels to transport pulp, the purchase of 280 electric trucks from the Chinese company JAC by Seara, among others.
They were not previously announced due to Lula’s absence from the tour.
Relations between Brazil and China were strained during the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) administration, with attacks by the then president, his sons and ministers on the country’s largest trading partner.
The reestablishment of diplomatic links with China has been identified as a priority by Lula and ministers such as Carlos Fávaro, from Agriculture, and Mauro Vieira, from Foreign Affairs.
