The Transparency Inspection and Control Commission of the Senate approved, this Wednesday (14), a request for the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to provide information on the purchase of furniture without bidding for the Palácio da Alvorada, in the beginning of the year. In all, the government spent R$ 379,400 on 11 decorative objects.
Senator Eduardo Girão’s original request (Novo-CE) called for Minister Rui Costa, from the Civil House. But, an agreement suggested by the leader of the Government, senator Jaques Wagner (PT-BA), and endorsed by the president of the CTFC, senator Omar Aziz (PSD-AM), changed the requirement.
Girão agreed with the change, but recalled that, since the beginning of the legislative session, requests for information approved by the committees have not been forwarded by the President of the Senate to the Executive Branch.
Aziz gave until August for information on the purchase of furniture without bidding to be forwarded to the Senate. If this does not happen, the committee must vote on an invitation request for Rui Costa.
