Lula vetoes new ideas and says that politics is not for the minister, but for the government

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) opened his third ministerial meeting this Thursday (15) by telling his ministers that “from now on it is forbidden to have new ideas” and that the government must fulfill what has already been promised. . The PT convened this meeting with the heads of the 37 ministries so that they can present a balance of what has already been done in these first six months of government.

“From now on, we will be prohibited from having new ideas, we will have to fulfill what we have been able to propose up to now”, stated Lula when opening the meeting.

President Lula also demanded that all actions considered by the ministers go through the Presidency of the Republic and that announcements only be made after the approval of the Civil House. In addition to the ministers, government leaders in the Chamber, Senate and Congress were called to the ministerial meeting; and also the presidents of public banks.

“It is very important that you clearly say what has already been done. If you have a difficulty, you say about the difficulty. Secondly, say what the next steps are”, completed the petista.

The expectation is that the meeting will last throughout the day, bearing in mind that each minister will have up to 10 minutes to speak. The meeting was closed to the press after Lula’s opening speech.

Lula will launch new PAC in July

Lula stated that the New PAC, an infrastructure investment program, will be launched as of July 2nd. The president also announced that the government will invest in a mathematics college in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The project will be aimed at award-winning students in the area.

“We are going to create a mathematics college in Rio de Janeiro so that we can, at each Olympics (in mathematics), we can place 100 winning students in that school”, stated the president.

Lula also said that among the programs that will be resumed but have not yet been announced are Luz para Todos and Água para Todos. These programs aim to universalize electricity and basic sanitation throughout the country.

Daniela Carneiro participates in the meeting of the Lula government

In the wake of the political dispute over the ministerial reform, the Minister of Tourism, Daniela Carneiro, also participates in the government meeting promoted by Lula. The minister’s caption, União Brasil, her replacement by deputy Celso Sabino (União Brasil-PA).

Last Tuesday, Lula met with Daniela and her husband, the mayor of Belford Roxo (RJ), Waguinho Carneiro (Republicans). In an interview in Planalto, Waguinho said that it is up to Lula, with whom he has a “friendly relationship”, to decide on the composition of the government and that he has no “sorrow” or “grudge”.

Leaders of União Brasil have already warned the government that, if the exchange of Daniela for Sabino does not take place, the party’s infidelity to the government in Congress will increase. The exchange is expected to take place by the end of this week.
