President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) said this Thursday (6) that the reform of secondary education will not be revoked. According to him, the suspension is temporary and will last for the time necessary to reach an agreement “with society and interested entities”. Education unions and student movements have been pressing the government for changes.

“We are going to discuss with society and entities interested in improving Secondary Education. The reform was not revoked, but temporarily suspended until we reach an agreement”, said Lula.

On Tuesday (4), the Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, confirmed the suspension of the new phases of the implementation of the new model and also the changes in the National Secondary Education Examination (Enem).

Matter of People’s Gazette showed that experts claim that the New High School model needs adjustments, but any measure that proposes to return to the old model is harmful to the country’s education.
