Lula says government will hold public tenders – 04/28/2023 – Market

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) defended this Friday (28) the holding of public tenders by the federal government, to replace positions and fill in the gaps resulting from the lack of hiring.

Lula also stated that it is necessary “to have people behind the counter”.

“Sometimes, there is a misunderstanding, whether in bad faith or not, every time we talk about holding a contest, they say ‘the spending has started’. To improve any public service, you have to hire human beings, women and men to do the service that only human beings can provide,” said the president.

“It is not because we are in a developed world that we are going to do without the human being […] The human being needs, we need people behind the counter, to greet, smile, to listen”, he added.

The representative participated in a ceremony at the Planalto Palace, in which he sanctioned the bill that opens space for a 9% readjustment for federal public servants. Lula also signed a provisional measure determining this increase.

Also participating in the event were the Minister of Management and Innovation in Public Services, Esther Dweck, and the Minister of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, Márcio Macêdo, and the Minister of Labor and Employment, Luiz Marinho

The text sanctioned by Lula provides for a 9% readjustment for all federal civil servants, including retirees and pensioners.

The proposal, which had been sent by the government, was approved by the National Congress this Wednesday (26). With the sanction, the new values ​​are already valid in the month of May and are accompanied by an additional R$ 200 in food stamps.

The readjustment will be granted linearly to all categories and will start counting from the May 1 payroll, being paid on the due date of the following month. The government claims that more than one million people will benefit directly.

The cost of the measure for the public coffers will be R$ 11.2 billion, an amount already foreseen in the LOA (Annual Budget Law).
