Lula must meet Haiti’s prime minister to discuss aid – 06/20/2023 – Panel
[ad_1]
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) is due to meet with the Prime Minister of Haiti, Ariel Henry, during his participation in the summit on global finance taking place in France this Thursday (22nd) and Friday (23rd).
The agenda was requested by Henry, whose country faces chronic problems of poverty and instability, aggravated by periodic natural disasters such as cyclones and earthquakes.
The leaders should discuss forms of financial aid to the Caribbean country. Brazil led a UN military mission to Haiti for 13 years, which brought good results in the short term, but did not resolve the nation’s fundamental problems, considered the poorest in the Americas.
A new version of this international force, which is defended by sectors of the Haitian government and the UN, may be discussed at the meeting.
