Lula moves to Alvorada after 36 days in office – 02/06/2023 – Power

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) moved this Monday (6) to the Alvorada Palace after 36 days in office.

The Chief Executive claims that he was unable to move to the residential headquarters of the President of the Republic shortly after assuming the third term due to the situation of the place left by his predecessor, former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). The petista was living in a luxury hotel in the central region of Brasília.

“I, in fact, am homeless, without a palace. You need to help claim my right to live. Because I’ve been at the hotel for more than 45 days, and it’s no joke,” he said at the end of January. .

Before, he had already made other public complaints about the situation of Alvorada and Granja do Torto, the other residence intended for the president of the country and which was being occupied by the then Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, in the previous administration.

The first lady, Rosângela da Silva, Janja, even granted an interview to Globonews to show the interior of the palace and complain about the state of conservation of the space.

She walked with journalist Natuza Nery around the place and showed the private area of ​​the palace, where the president and Janja will actually reside.

There, it was possible to see the spoiled floor, torn upholstery, a broken table, holed rugs and even moldy walls.

According to reports, the stay of Lula and the first lady at the hotel ended on the 2nd. Afterwards, they went to São Paulo for the weekend and, this Monday, Lula fulfilled his agenda in Rio de Janeiro.

He had been at the hotel since the end of November, when he started going to Brasília more frequently due to the transitional government.
