President Lula (PT) said, during a press interview this Saturday (26) in Luanda, capital of Angola, that it is necessary to discuss how to repair the former president and his co-religionist Dilma Rousseff after the decision that maintained the shelving of a lawsuit against her in the case of tax pedals.
Lula joked about not being possible to return the post of president to Dilma.
“Now I’m going to discuss how we’re going to do it, it’s not possible to repair political rights if she wants to be president again, because I want to end my term. But you need to know how to repair something that was judged for something that didn’t happen .”
The PT also stated that the current president of the Brics bank was “absolved” by the TRF (Federal Regional Court) of the 1st Region, in Brasília.
However, the 10th Panel only judged an appeal by the MPF (Federal Public Ministry) against the filing last year. The impropriety action was filed without a decision on the merits, that is, it was not analyzed due to lack of grounds for the accusations. On Friday (25), also in a speech in Angola, Lula had already commented on the TRF-1 decision.
The president said that Brazil owes Dilma an apology.
Unanimously, the TRF-1 maintained on Monday (21) the decision that shelved an improbity action against former President Dilma on the case of tax pedaling, which served as the basis for the impeachment process of the PT in 2016.
The decision also benefits former finance minister Guido Mantega.
Other beneficiaries are former Banco do Brasil president Aldemir Bendine, former Treasury secretary Arno Augustin and former BNDES president Luciano Coutinho.
The decision was taken in the session by 3 votes to 0. In addition to the rapporteur, Saulo Casali Bahia, judges Marllon Souza and Marcos Vinícius Reis Bastos voted.
Dilma had her mandate revoked in 2016 in an impeachment process that was carried out in the House and Senate. Both Houses considered that the then president committed a crime of responsibility, with the opening of budgetary credit without the approval of Congress.
The decision, in the process and on the merits, was accompanied without contestation by the STF (Federal Supreme Court).
