President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) made three changes to the Public Ethics Commission of the Presidency of the Republic. The collegiate is consulted on possible conflicts of interest and conduct that does not comply with the rules set forth in the Code of Conduct of the High Federal Administration. The three names dismissed by Lula had been assigned to the commission by former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in 2022. Three other members have already been chosen by the PT to join the group. The term of office envisaged is three years.

This Tuesday’s (7th) edition of the Official Gazette brings the dismissals of Célio Faria Júnior, Fábio Prieto de Souza and João Henrique Nascimento de Freitas from the commission. In their place, the following were appointed to the collegiate: Bruno Espiñeira Lemos, Kenarik Boujikian and Manoel Caetano Ferreira Filho.

Lemos is a lawyer, law professor, and attorney for the state of Bahia in Brasilia. The jurist Kenarik Boujikian is a retired judge at the São Paulo Court of Justice (TJSP). Ferreira Filho is also a lawyer and law professor, in addition to being a retired attorney for the state of Paraná.
