First Lady presented the leader of the Catholic Church with a statue of Our Lady of Nazareth
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva invited Pope Francis to participate in the Círio de Nazaré, one of the biggest Catholic festivals in Brazil, which takes place every October in Belém, in the Amazonian state of Pará.
In addition, First Lady Janja presented the leader of the Catholic Church with a statue of Our Lady of Nazareth, patroness of the Amazon.
Photos of the meeting show a moving embrace between the Pope and Lula, who always thanked the pontiff for encouraging him during the Lava Jato processes and his period in jail.
This was the second personal meeting between the two leaders, who had already met in February 2020.
