Lula has 67% approval in the Northeast and 51% rejection in the South

The nearly five full months of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s (PT) government are evaluated differently among Brazilian regions, reflecting part of the results seen in the 2022 election, according to a survey released this Tuesday (23) by the institute Paraná Research.
Lula’s government has 67.4% approval in its main electoral stronghold, the Northeast, while the South disapproves of the new administration at 51.2%. The situation is a little more favorable to the president in the North and Midwest regions, with 54.3% approval and 39.7% disapproval, and a more balanced one in the Southeast, with 49.7% and 43.2%, respectively.
In the national assessment of the survey, Lula has an approval of 54.1% against a disapproval of 39.4%, while 6.5% of respondents do not know or do not want to give an opinion on the performance of this third term.
With regard to the country’s economic situation, which is still awaiting the vote on the new fiscal rule and is waiting for the tax reform, the perception of the economy has not changed for 45.4% of respondents, while 26.8% think it has improved and 25.8% that there was a worsening.
The Paraná Pesquisas institute heard 2,023 voters in 164 municipalities in the 26 states and the Federal District. The confidence level is 95% and the margin of error is 2.2 percentage points for the overall results, ranging from 3.4 in the Southeast to 5.8 in the South. The complete survey can be accessed here.
